NASA's X-59 QueSST: Exxelia is on board

In recent weeks, NASA has communicated extensively about its X-59 QueSST experimental aircraft program, as the demonstrator nears completion of assembly at aircraft manufacturer Lockheed-Martin. An essential link in the Low Boom Flight Demonstration (LBFD) project, the X-59 will begin flight test.

✈ If the program lives up to its promise, it could lead to the emergence of supersonic transport aircraft capable of flying over land, without the limitations imposed on Concorde in its day. For this project, Exxelia mainly produces coils from our US sites. Our components are intended for the aircraft engine.

With its elongated nose, its "humped" wings and its small scattered lifting surfaces, the X-59 is unlike any other aircraft. An exceptional configuration for exceptional capabilities.

It will fly at a speed of 1.5 Mach (1.5 times the speed of sound), or more than 1,800 kilometers per hour. NASA hopes that its aircraft will eventually be used in civil aviation.

If the tests are successful, the X-59 QueSST could have two revolutionary effects on the U.S. and even the world's aeronautical landscape:

  • The test aircraft could serve as inspiration for future mass-produced transport aircraft, whether airliners or business jets.
  • The LBFD project as a whole could lead to an evolution of current aviation regulations. Rather than banning all civilian supersonic flights over the U.S., as is the case today, NASA is proposing to introduce noise-based regulation.

Innovative new products at Electronica 2022 - Booth# A5 - 339

Electronica will take place from November 15th to 18th in Munich, Germany. On our booth #A5 - 339, we will be displaying a bunch of innovative new ranges. EMBEDDED DIVISION - AVIATION / DEFENSE / SPACE   We are proud to show our latest capacitor technology innovation called MML® technology. Miniature Micro-LayerTM Film is a breakthrough in film capacitor technology, with an energy density up to 4 times superior to other film dielectrics. MMLTM innovative technology makes power capacitors smaller, lighter and compatible to higher temperatures. It is perfect for DC link, decoupling, charge-discharge applications. Alongside MML, we will also be exhibiting innovations in magnetics, allowing saving up to 40% weight and 20% volume while dissipating more power. You will also find our new aluminum electrolytic rectangular low profile capacitors named Cubisic SLP and HTLP, our MIL & DSCC tantalum capacitors (newly qualified to reliability level P) as well as our multi-outputs CCM transformers & Dual Active Bridge. But also our components on board the eVTOL.   RAIL & INDUSTRY DIVISION   It is with great joy that we will be exhibiting Alcon capacitors for the first time on our booth. Alcon manufactures film and aluminum electrolytic capacitors that are particularly suitable for locomotives and power electricity charging stations. We will also exhibit film and ceramic capacitors for signaling, and magnetics for rail tracking system, openable current transformer, TFPP transformer and resistors.   MEDICAL DIVISION   Our new Exxelia Micropen branch has an outstanding product offer for medical products that will be showcased at Electronica for the first time ever! Indeed, Exxelia Ohmcraft high voltage resistors are widely used into laboratory equipment such as mass spectrometers or thermocyclers. We will also be showing our Exxelia Micropen unique additive printing technology used extensively for medical disposable material such as endotracheal tubes or surgical ablation tools. You will discover our new range of film components from the Alcon family and our well-known non-magnetic High-Q capacitors for MRI imaging systems, as well as our low profile flyback transformers for implantable devices.

Introducing new EXXELIA.COM

Completely re-designed Exxelia new website features user-friendly design, improved functionalities and enhanced rich content to assist electronic engineers, component purchasers, industry professionals and students to quickly access information.  Created with the user experience firmly in mind, the website has been designed to make Exxelia’s vast product portfolio easy to browse. A parametric search engine with filters specific to each product category (capacitance, voltage, temperature, insertion loss, current, frequency, etc.) enables to narrow down the product portfolio and access information in a quick, trouble free and efficient way. More than 680 product series are listed on the website with relevant literature accessible for each series: datasheets, 3D models, high-res pictures and much more.      Technical data, application guides, white papers work together to provide a detailed overview of Exxelia’s capabilities across wide range of technologies. An application section presents the major markets the group is involved in, with a dedicated product selection for every sub-environments: avionics & cockpit, actuation systems, satellites, radars, medical imaging, etc. This section also contributes to better present Exxelia’s diversified offer of components that includes capacitors, magnetics, filters and electromechanical solutions.  “We are thrilled about the new website launch and the robust information it provides to better understand Exxelia wide product offering. We believe this will improve the overall customer experience and strengthen our brand as a technology leader and quality product manufacturer” said Marie Evrard, Head of Marketing and Communication at Exxelia.  “We believe this new site will allow our visitors to have a very informative experience as we increase our market presence. The group continues to grow and it was necessary to streamline our website to make it easier to navigate.” states Jérôme Tabourel, Marketing & Sales VP at Exxelia. Exxelia new website will be updated on a regular basis with new product launches, company info, events and technical information.
