Exxelia expands its High-Performance Dielectric Resonators and Ferrites capabilities for Microwave Applications

Exxelia enlarges its Dielectric Resonators (DR) material and Ferrite offering for high-frequency applications.

New capabilities include the use of its latest E7000 material, which provides narrow bandwidths, temperature stability and high Q-factor together with advanced manufacturing skills such as the capability to deliver extremely small size, and complex ferrite designs.

Exxelia's E7000 series is a Ba-Mg-Ta based material that combines an ultra-high Q-factor and the possibility to get different temperature coefficients upon request. E7000 features the highest performance requested for space use in the frequency range from 5 to 32 GHz, and guarantees a Qxf up to > 250 000 at 10GHZ.

In addition, Exxelia is now able to support the most advanced RF designs with the delivery of complex geometries such as Y-shape ferrites for microwave switches or Toroidal designs for phase shifters applications. Those miniaturized and complex products may be as small as few mm only and benefit from exceptional quality, superior performance and low loss (ΔH) materials.

Exxelia is a unique manufacturer producing its own raw materials for Ferrites and Dielectrics with proprietary formulations for use in the most demanding environments.

Nicolas Dabadie, Microwave Materials business development manager at Exxelia said: "We are pleased to support our customers’ more and more complex designs and demanding applications. Our unique capability to master the manufacturing from raw materials to high-end finished products opens the way to new solutions for microwave applications going from few MHz to 40GHz".

Ferrite materials are used in microwave devices such as isolators, circulators, diplexers, filters and phase shifters. They have dielectric and magnetic properties due to the presence of magnetic ions such as iron within the composition. Exxelia also offers a wide range of dielectric resonators series, including coaxial resonators in different sizes.

State-of-the art absolute optical encoders Exxelia has acquired deep expertise in the development of contactless position sensors of several type: absolute and incremental optical encoders, magnetic technology and inductive sensors. Several ranges of state-of-the-art absolute optical encoders will be showcased at the company booth - Hall 5A booth# E543. Absolute optical encoders are position sensors that use optical signals to identify an absolute angular position. They provide the highest resolution, operating speed reliability as well as long life operation in most demanding environments. Exxelia ranges of absolute optical encoders offer very high performance levels for a very small footprint: high precision (<30arcsc.), high resolution (up to 21 bits), extreme thinness (10mm) and EMI EMC compatibility. With their compact design, Exxelia miniature encoders meet the requirements of the most demanding application such as aerospace, defense, medical, oil & mining industries. Various protocols are available to match with any application.  Exxelia encoders can be easily combined with other functions such as slip rings to provide customers turkey solutions.   Two new ranges of MIL-qualified wet tantalum capacitors: MIL39006/22 & MIL39006/25 The recently introduced ranges of MIL-qualified tantalum capacitors will be showcased on the company booth. MIL 39006/22 and MIL 39006/25 respectively equivalent to CLR79 and CLR81 types featuring hermetically sealed cylindrical tantalum cases and axial leads are available in T1, T2 T3 and T4 cases with extended capacitance and voltage ratings. MIL 39006/22 is qualified for voltages from 6V to 125V and provides from 1200µF @6V to 56µF @125V. MIL 39006/25 is qualified for voltages from 25V to 125V and delivers from 680µF @25V to 82µF @125V. Both ranges combine high energy density with a large operating temperature range of -55°C - +125°C and H vibrations and shocks resistance.

Innovative new products at Electronica - Booth# B5 312 -

Felsic HV, long lifetime and high voltage screw terminal The Felsic HV family of aluminum electrolytic screw terminal capacitors provides great performances in energy density and ultra-long lifetime. For example products can withstand 8 000 hours at 105°C under high values of current which makes them the perfect choice to overcome railway constraints. The family also has one of the lowest ESR for aluminum capacitors, less than 10m0hms in most cases. Products are available for voltages from 160 to 450 Vdc, and offer capacitance values from 1500μF up to 47 000μF. Thus the family is a good compromise between reliability and compacity, with for example 47 000μF @ 160V in a 90x200mm volume. Cost-effective common-mode chokes qualified for aerospace Designed and qualified for aerospace, the TCM series is available in a through-hole package for horizontal and vertical mounting. TCM common-mode chokes are offered with inductances from 0.7 to 47mH under rated currents from 0.3A to 4A, and thoroughly tested by a dielectric withstanding strength at 1500VAC. Their excellent thermal properties allow the TCMs to operate without a hitch from -55°C up to +125°C, which, combined to the high mechanical resistance of the chosen materials (all meeting to UL94 V0 rating) make those products the perfect fit for aviation, defense and transportation industries. Ceramic capacitors based on the new C48X dielectric New range of high voltage ceramic capacitors based on brand new dielectric material C48X, combining most advantages of NPO and X7R dielectrics. Compared to X7R material, C48X dielectric allows to get the same capacitance values under working voltage with the unrivaled advantage of a very low dissipation factor (less than 5.10-4). Besides, it can also withstand very high dV/dt, up to 10kV/μs, which makes it the solution of choice for pulse and fast charge/discharge applications or firing units. Thus capacitors with C48X dielectric appear to be ideally suited for power applications where heat dissipation may be detrimental to performances and reliability. Ultra low ESR, high RF power and high self-resonant frequency The new NHB series is a complete range of MLCC based on NPO dielectric material providing a very high Self Resonant Frequency and limiting the parasite Parallel Resonant Frequencies. The series is available in 1111 size with capacitance ranging from 0.3pF to 100pF. NHB series offers excellent performance for RF power applications at high temperature up to 175°C and at 500 VDC. The lowest ESR is obtained by combining highly conductive metal electrodes and proprietary of new NPO low loss rugged dielectrics. NHB series particularly fits for high power and high frequency applications such as: cellular base station equipment, broadband wireless service, point to point / multipoint radios and broadcasting equipment.
